On April 20, 2010, Girl Scout Troop #977 enjoyed a field trip to the Dixie County Courthouse where they visited the Supervisor of Elections Office.Fourteen Girl Scouts took part in an election, voting for their favorite school subject, favorite fruit, pet and sweet.The Supervisor of Elections office created ballots with pictures representing each selection.Starlet Cannon, Supervisor of Elections and her staff were on hand to give instructions and demonstrate how to properly mark their ballots as well as deposit their ballots into the locked black box.After voting, each scout was given an “I Voted” sticker and a bag of goodies.Supervisor, Starlet Cannon commends the scout troop leader for encouraging and incorporating voter education into their scout activities.
Voter Education is important for all ages.
